LABEL?
by Francisco Javier Lagunes Gaitán
already the old saying: There are none so blind as those who do not want to see. Both have told us some guidance from the sex is bad and evil, we all grow up with the fear of encountering a strange object in ourselves (or others). Once again, the human refuses to be contained in a simple scheme. Cast the first stone who clearly knows himself and not hide behind a label.
Who am I? Whence I come from? Where do I go? No doubt we all have times when we would do anything to get a proper answer to these basic questions of the human condition. However, in the long run it seems best not to have too short a response that allows us to question ourselves and grow in different directions.
The truth is that too lazy to get up every day and having to define whether or not we are, so we took the shortcut to get a label and lead more or less according to what is supposed to indicate it. The only fixed feature of the human is that while there is life, there is change and many times in a sense unexpected.
identity tags for everyone s. ..
Labels can serve as shortcuts or tricks that can help us make life more manageable. But they can also become obstacles weights and frightening, and cause us great unhappiness. It is very important not to marry a label and be able to critically review whether I had really helping me, or hurts me more.
My personal identity has many layers like an onion. Each layer is formed by an identity label that gives me: my body, my name, my family, my class, my nationality, my language, my religious beliefs, my political ideology, my town, my favorite soccer team, my hobbies My profession, my sexual orientation, my music dearest, my ethnic group, etc. And as good onion, if you take away all the layers, there is nothing below ...
Each tag allows me to identify with some and distinguish myself from others. Some labels are highly valued, while others are identified and rejected. I placed some labels give me pride and personal safety. At the same time, I can do anything to avoid as much as possible some other labels that make me feel ashamed. It is common on 15 September proud of our Mexican, but nobody wants to be labeled as Indian or naco (short for Totonac, a native indigenous people "as Zacapoaxtla, whose participation decided the victory of the Mexican side some Battle of Puebla, May 5th of last century).
Avatars of the sexual orientation labels
The repertoire of sexual orientation labels is extremely limited. While human sexuality is so rich and complex, usually handle only 3 labels to try to describe (in terms of sexual orientation): homosexual, heterosexual and bisexual.
But reaching this simple trio of labels was not easy. In biblical times there was just two labels: virtuous and sinful ( pure and impure). At that time no one knew the concept of homosexuality that just turned 133 years. If a man sexually penetrating another like him (the Bible prohibits sex between women), did not distinguish whether it was by mutual consent or by force, they do not fit on the head that could have been a loving act simply prohibited. They felt that these men had no real inner need to do this, as if only wishing to offend the Lord by pure and reckless frivolity.
Since the late nineteenth century came "from the psychiatric vocabulary" two new and complementary concepts: homosexuality and heterosexuality. Before that time people were simply tastes, feelings and erotic practices (pecamnosas or virtuous), but to coin the concept of heterosexuality created a new backup to hide from the ghosts inner self. The label of heterosexuality and not only had the foundation of religion and social authorities, but now was science that seemed to come in support. I'm healthy and so I should be heterosexual, did you tell the average citizen.
